I am one of those people who loves to wander, explore every nook and cranny. My favorite is discovering a museum in the middle of nowhere. If you are like me then this post is for you! The Museum of Anatolian Civilization is located in Ankara, Turkey and it’s definitely worth checking out if you have time while visiting the city. There are over 20,000 exhibits on display which include archaeological artifacts from various periods throughout history such as Neolithic pottery pieces, Sumerian tablets and Hittite sculptures. I was really impressed by how many different exhibits they had for visitors to check out because I felt like I had been transported back in time when looking at all these beautiful pieces!

Temple of Augustus

A visit to the Temple of Augustus is a must when you’re in Ankara. The temple was built in 28 BC and dedicated by Octavian, later known as Caesar Augustus, who led Rome’s transformation from republic to empire. It is located on Cumhuriyet Avenue (Republic Street), near the Parliament building.
The temple has an awesome statue of Venus holding a scepter and apple, which are symbols for love and fertility respectively. Statues of Julius Caesar, Claudius, Livia Drusilla – wife of emperor Tiberius – can also be seen at the site along with other relics from different periods such as marble statues from Roman antiquity or pieces of pedestals that once held statues found during excavations about 20 years
